So... I'm going to have a journal at the beginning of every month since I'm doing monthly features. Get them while they're hot! :U (at the bottom~!)
Today, we had our first meeting for the new Graphic Novels club at our school~! I think it went relatively well. We didn't do much 'cept for skim comics and talk about meeting dates, but that's what's to be expected about the first meeting. I'm not sure how things will work out since we don't know how to run a club...at all. We're talking about comic book styles on Monday, so I'm psyched for that. Hopefully Perry will be able to shed some light on Marvel/DC since I don't know as much as I do about manga types. I'm also thinking that we'll talk about (throughout the year):
> structure
> panel/comic flow
> content
> shading techniques
> etc.
Please suggest pointers, topics, and other things that we should know about comics for our club!

We'll hopefully talk about:
> Manga
- shonen(HunterXHunter)
- shojo(Ouran Highschool Host Club)
- stylistic(Tezuka Osamu; that wolverine manga Perry's got)
> Marvel/DC
- fantastic 4
- Civil War
- Deadpool (I think)
- going to buy some more over the weekend, hopefully
> Western
- Calvin & Hobbs
- Baby Blues
- Newspaper comics (etc.)
> Disney (it's a good style to go over)
- ...uh...just in-general, I suppose.
> Webcomics (maybe)
- Lackadaisy
- Top Dogz
- Braceton
- Rockstar
- Ever After
- Luna will probably bring up pendeogans
OCTOBER FEATURES [full]
About being featured:
>You can't be featured two months in a row
>You must clearly comment that you wish to be featured
>You should type the password orange snaps so I know that you read this.
>If you ask me to advertise a personal site (like a webcomic) that will count for 1/3 of your feature
>I'll put up your icon, a small description of you art next to it, and then three of my favorite pieces of your work with comments (oldest to newest).
1.
Realistic marvel/DC; lots of powerful women; great action poses!
>
"Lion Flame Tattoo"- Your style is really cool, and I like that you have a good eye for squiggly lines. The flow here is really cool, the lion's mane looks really messy and made of flames, and I love it.
>
"The Shadow Fox Re-Color"- Characters with a lot of black in their scheme are hard to pull-off, but you did it expertly here. You have very nice lines, so they're complimented well by your coloring (plus, this character is really cool).
>
"The Peacekeeper Background"- Right off the bat, I was drawn to this piece. The natural colors are beautiful, and the character is quite noticeable, plus her pose is ace.
2.
Cool still-life; Good at wordplay; good at satire
>
"Butts"- I still think that this is a hilariously creative way to deal when faced with those theme challenge things. Great job on finding that loophole, and your still-life art is still amazing~♥
>
"Serj Tankian"- It's Rober Downey Jr., right? 'Cause if it is, then you did an awesome job at capturing his visage!
>
"Comic for Biology Hexaditidom P1"/
"Comic for Giology Hexaditidom P2"- These are technically one piece, so I put them both up. I really like the simplicity in the descriptions, and it's quite educational, really. Great job on the wireframes, and all of the pictures.
3.
Cute style; clean lines; great improvement
>
"Lock and Load" Nice job on the black shading~! You executed it excellently, and the background strip is a perfect addition to this piece.
>
"Pirrapirrapirra" Great composition~! I love the gradients, and great job on getting them to be transparent, hehe. Great job on proportions and her expression is ace. I want those shoes.
>
"haxwhut"- I like how it looks like one of those fake screen-shots because of the borders, and the guy is like oAo.
4.
pixel animator; smooth style; good improvement
>
"Pandachu Request"- (no, I'm not just putting this up because it's mine, I have reasons) The composition's great, and you executed the explosion thingy well. The pose is very natural, and the expression is adorable.
>
"Phil Dancin Request"- I always love your pixel animations. They're very cute, and smooth. This one has a lot of content, so that's why I like it 'cause you use a Chia rather than just the standard circular tards.
>
"Sands Likes Books"- Haha, very nice. The pose is wonderful, and you get a feeling of what Sands is like, just by looking at his expression and body language (well...maybe not the right impression, but pretty close). I like how you made him in your own style, and not like the Neopets version.

>
5.
western strips style; funny; interesting characters
>
"TicTacToeMan gets a prize"- I still like your humor, hehe. Poor Rick~

I kinda like when you don't use the shape tools and such. This piece is old, so I'd like to see how good you are now~! :3
>
"Zobe Plushy"Even though you used the shape toold and such, this is very cute. I love the sock for a hat thing, hehe. Good job on making it look like a doll, like, lifeless and whatnot.
>
"Kir and Rickroll"- I still love how your characters have evolved over the years. It's good to see you trying new poses and such.
Time to go to my Cuz's symphonic orchestra concert~!
